Stephen King was admittedly a junkie in the late 70s and most of the 80s. One of the projects he worked on during that time was his one and only time as a film director. Just about everyone remembers it, of course, it’s gone on to be a cult classic, but Maximum Overdrive, based on King’s earlier short story, Trucks, was made when he was basically coked out of his brain.
If any further truth to that statement ever needed to be made, here you go, one of the best (worst) movie posters ever:
What I take from this poster is that the movie is about a giant sized, coke-eyed Stephen King who steps through a shimmering rift in the world and menaces Emilo Estevez and his loyal band of oddly colored trucks. Also, it’s laundry day at the Estevez (or Sheen) house.
