I’ve been cautiously optimistic about Ghost Rider 2 (or Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, if you prefer). It looks to be better than the original, which was a pretty bad movie with a single awesome scene (the two riders leaving burning tracks through the desert). There’s bullet vomiting, pissing fire, and the general idea that it can’t be any worse than the first one.
Here’s the new poster for the movie. The bike looks a lot meaner. The original was o.k., of course, but it really felt like something off of American Chopper. This one seems (and it’s only a poster, so who can say) to be more demonic, more unearthly, as it should be. The chain is suitably fiery, and the rider himself looks good. But this is, of course, just a poster.
Here’s hoping that this won’t be a bomb. Blade proved that a supernatural super hero can work on the big screen. Now after so many disappointments, including the original Ghost Rider and such stinkers as Jonah Hex, we can only hope that this movie might rekindle the genre.
